Unfortunately, the year 2020 has witnessed the migration of all human activities to online platforms. Meetings and classes are no exception and many people have migrated to apps that can replace live conferences. Let's check out one of the most popular video conferencing apps on the market, Zoom.
Zoom can be downloaded and used for free but you have business options to pay for. The free plan can be used for 40-minute meetings with up to 100 participants. The free plan is useful for checking out the app but the 40-minute limit can get annoying. Some features available in paid plans include cloud recording, advanced user management, custom invitation mails, automatically generated transcripts of meetings, and a larger number of participants.
What sets Zoom apart from other video conferencing apps is its number of useful features designed to aid businesses in every aspect possible. You can share your computer's audio, webcam video, or the content of your screen. There's also a useful feature called Whiteboard where you can write, draw, and keep important notes.
Joining a meeting requires knowing the meeting's ID and password. From within the app, you can schedule meetings and invite users via email or social media. If you're hosting the meeting, you can put newcomers in the waiting room before allowing them to enter and you can lock the meeting whenever you want. Managing participants has also been simplified and the host can easily allow or ban their interaction with the meeting. Multiple users can share content at the same time.
Meetings can be recorded and the video file is created after the meeting ends. Paying users can also use cloud recording. Zoom underwent criticism after there was a massive breach of both data and user accounts. However, updates were released to take care of that issue. For instance, it offers more features than Google Meet that's available for G Suite users but its screen-sharing performance falls short when compared to Cisco Webex. Still, it's a great solution for anyone who wants to host online video conferences and access the most important features easily!
